The Swedish Sports Confederation’s Laboratory for Performance development (RLP) is a modern, high-tech laboratory dedicated to tailoring Performance development to different sports and the individual needs of athletes.

Climate Room

A room designed to simulate fictional environmental conditions. In unique settings where temperature, humidity, and altitude are adjusted, Training and Performance test can be conducted based on the athlete’s specific conditions and goals.

Try a different humidity level

The climate chamber can be adjusted to temperatures ranging from +12°C to +40°C, humidity levels from 35 percent to 90 percent, and altitudes from 0 to 5,750 meters above sea level—which is slightly higher than base camp on Mount Everest. Altitude is simulated by adjusting the oxygen level inside the chamber. The lower the oxygen content in the air, the “higher” the altitude. A humidity level of 40–60 percent is generally considered normal for private homes and workplaces. Humidity levels of 90 percent can occur in Sweden on a foggy day.

Endurance

A room equipped for measuring oxygen uptake and metabolic parameters, gait analysis, biomechanical analysis, and more

Test Your Oxygen Uptake Capacity

During Performance test on a bicycle, kayak, or rowing ergometer, the oxygen consumption equipment used for metabolic measurements, combined with power data from the ergometer, provides valuable information about performance. Our ergometers are tailored to the needs of the sport, and our goal is to measure movement patterns that are as sport-specific as possible.

The Endurance Room is the largest room in the RLP by area and is equipped with two treadmills. The large treadmill, which measures 2.5 x 5 meters, can be used for activities such as running, cycling, inline skating, roller skiing, or wheelchair use. The “small” treadmill is still quite large, with a width and length of 700 x 2,500 cm, and is used for running tests. This treadmill is equipped with sensors for advanced running analysis of forces during foot strike, as well as cameras for biomechanical analysis. We also connect oxygen consumption equipment to it for metabolic measurements.
