Advanced Endurance Test
Optimize your Training with Bosön’s advanced endurance test and get a complete picture of your strengths and areas for improvement. We combine data from VO2 max, MAS, and ASR to provide you with an in-depth analysis of how you can optimize your Training and achieve your goals effectively.
Submaximal threshold test with lactate measurement and oxygen uptake
By measuring lactate levels at different intensities, we get a clear picture of your aerobic and anaerobic thresholds. These thresholds mark the transition from low- to moderate-intensity exercise and from moderate- to high-intensity exercise. By mapping these thresholds, we can define the exact intensity zones for your Training. We also measure your oxygen uptake below the threshold, which provides valuable information about your running economy—that is, how efficiently you utilize oxygen at submaximal intensities.

What is VO2max, and why is it important?
Maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) is the highest amount of oxygen the body can take in and use during maximum exertion. This is a key indicator of your aerobic capacity and endurance. The test measures VO2max both in absolute terms (L/min) and relative terms (ml/kg/min), providing an accurate picture of how efficiently your body uses oxygen during high-intensity exercise. A higher VO2max means you have a greater capacity to perform endurance work at higher intensities.
Maximum Aerobic Speed (MAS) and How It Can Help You
Another important parameter we measure during the test isMaximum Aerobic Speed (MAS). MAS represents the running speed at which you reach your maximum aerobic capacity. By identifying your MAS, we gain an accurate understanding of the speed at which your endurance training should be focused to optimize oxygen uptake and aerobic capacity. Knowing your MAS allows you to adjust your training intensity to maximize your training results, both in terms of improving speed and endurance.
Sprint for Anaerobic Speed Reserve (ASR)
For runners, our test also includes a sprint test that measures your maximum sprint speed. This, combined with MAS, makes it possible to calculate yourAnaerobic Speed Reserve (ASR). ASR is an important parameter for gaining an overview of your profile and, in this way, optimizing your high-intensity intervals.

Summary
Our advanced test gives you a comprehensive overview of your endurance and areas for improvement. By understanding these factors, you can create a training program tailored to maximize your results, whether you’re training to improve your performance or increase your endurance.
Important Information Before Your Visit
- Please arrive well in advance to fill out your health declaration.
- Make sure you're well-rested. You shouldn't have done a strenuous workout within 48 hours of the test.
- Eat your last meal well in advance of the test (2–3 hours). If the test is scheduled for early in the morning, you may have a light breakfast no later than 2 hours before the test.
- Bring clothes and shoes that you're comfortable in and used to wearing. Short-sleeved shirts and shorts are recommended.
- Only clean shoes may be worn on the treadmill. When cycling, we recommend that you bring your own cycling shoes. If you don't have your own shoes, we have a small selection of cycling shoes in various sizes. We have cleats that fit different types of pedals.
- Bring a water bottle and a small towel to use during the test.
- Changing rooms and showers are available on site.
- Please be dressed for your test.
About the Test
The available exercise options for testing include treadmills, stationary bikes, roller skis, pole machines, rowing machines, and kayak ergometers.
Duration: approximately 90–120 minutes, including warm-up and review of results.
