Leading and Coaching Seniors
This course is designed to provide you, as a leader or coach for seniors, with foundational knowledge in several areas. The course covers physiological changes in older adults and how these changes affect their physical activity, as well as how exercise programs can be adapted to meet their needs. The course also highlights how diet can improve physical activity and prevent disease in older adults. In the area of sports medicine, the course focuses on injury prevention and effective rehabilitation methods. We also discuss the importance of social interaction and how it can contribute to the well-being of older adults.
The course is conducted online during the day on weekdays and includes three full-day in-person sessions at Bosön. The course is part-time, consisting of approximately 10 hours per week. Some online instruction is recorded for those who are unable to participate in real time, although real-time participation is, of course, preferred.
When studying at a folk high school, participants are expected and required to actively participate in the course and contribute their experiences and knowledge by communicating with both other participants and the instructor. We use Microsoft Teams.
