Leadership, Management, and HR
The course on leadership, employer responsibilities, and HR is designed for those who want to develop themselves and their organization and become better employers. It also provides insight into the unique challenges of working and leading in a nonprofit organization.
In the nonprofit sector in general—and perhaps in sports in particular—broader HR knowledge is limited and often given low priority. Many managers become overly involved in day-to-day operations and athletic activities, which leaves little room to actively apply labor law and HR principles in their day-to-day leadership. Opportunities for professional development are also scarce.
This course is designed for those of you who, in your work or role, lead others in some capacity. You likely hold a leadership position within the sports community, such as secretary general, HR manager, sports director, or similar. You may also be a manager in another civil society organization. The course lasts two days. Theory and practice are interwoven with new knowledge, the identification of success factors, and independent work. The course is conducted in collaboration with the employers’ alliance.

Purpose
To equip leaders in the sports sector and civil society, to strengthen values-based leadership, and to increase knowledge of current labor laws and appropriate HR strategies.
Who is this program for?
You work as a manager in the sports movement or another nonprofit organization. You may hold a leadership role in a specialized sports federation, a district, or a larger club. This means you manage an office or organization with at least a couple of employees. When you register, you’ll fill out a short form describing, among other things, your leadership context, challenges, and expectations for the course.
Here's what you'll get
- After completing the course, you’ll find it easier to see the connection between labor law, HR work, and leadership, and to apply this knowledge in practice.
- A better understanding of the differences and challenges involved in leading in the nonprofit sector compared to leadership in the private sector and the public sector.
- Refresher training on the division of roles between civil servants and elected officials.
- Meet specialists in the field.
- The ability to apply and make active decisions regarding your own leadership and challenges related to labor law.
- Gain a better understanding of values-based leadership and how to apply it in your daily life.
