Leadership in Children's and Youth Sports
This course will give you insight into your role as a leader/coach and the opportunities you have to influence children and young people toward positive values and a healthy lifestyle. We’ll discuss the challenges you face as a coach/leader and suggest solutions. Through examples of exercises and methods tailored to different age groups, we’ll provide you—as a leader or coach—with tips for creating an inspiring and nurturing learning environment that delivers effective training results. We’ll also examine the physiological and motor development of children and adolescents. The goal of the course is to enhance your ability as a leader to motivate children and adolescents during their training training , and in competition.
The courses are primarily conducted online during the day on weekdays, with two full-day in-person sessions at Bosön—one at the beginning and one at the end of the course. The course is part-time, consisting of approximately 10 hours per week. Some online sessions are recorded for those who are unable to participate in real time, although real-time participation is, of course, preferred.
The first online session—an introduction lasting about 1 hour—on the first day of the course is mandatory.
When studying at a folk high school, participants are expected and required to actively participate in the course and contribute their experiences and knowledge by communicating with both other participants and the instructor. We use Microsoft Teams.
